Innovation Awards 2024

IN.NO.VA.TION – A NEW METHOD, IDEA, PRODUCT

As the British Columbia residential housing sector works towards reaching energy efficiency targets, the modular home industry continues to emerge as a leader in offering sustainable, affordable and efficient home construction.

To further promote those within the industry who adopt emerging technologies and revolutionary products into home design, the Manufactured Home Association of British Columbia (MHABC) created the Innovation Awards.

Awards highlight MHABC Members who utilize strategic design to blend a home within its surroundings and incorporate products that will both benefit home sustainability and complement the lifestyle of those who reside within.

Award Categories:

  • Manufactured (Z240MH) Innovation
  • Modular (A277) Innovation
  • Park Model (Z241) Innovation
  • Multi-Family Innovation (2-4 storeys)

Award Recipients will receive:

  • An attractive award to display
  • A complementary blog written on your award-winning home
  • Complementary social media posts through MHABC social media channels
  • Complementary digital award winner logo for use within your own marketing and promotional purposes
  • Recognition on MHABC’s website highlighting all award winners

This year’s awards will be presented during the annual MHABC Summit & AGM taking place April 29 to May 1, 2024 at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

Submit Your Project

*MHABC is proud to invite all members in good standing to participate in the 2024 Innovation Awards. Non-member submissions will not be accepted.

Easy 5-Step Application Process

Award submissions are free of charge and will be completed here online through the MHABC website. The Z240MH, A277 and Z241 categories each contain 5 short and easy sections to complete:

  1. Project Name (list your project name & building square footage)
  2. Project description (500 words or less)
  3. Innovative/Sustainable-based Features bullet-list (max 5 bullets)
  4. Images (upload interior & exterior images of your project)
  5. PDF’s (upload your project site plan, floor plan and a signed homeowner release)

All items submitted will become the sole property of the Manufactured Housing Association of British Columbia (MHABC). The MHABC reserves the right to utilize content and photos submitted in future promotion and marketing of the Innovation Awards.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA & ENTRY DATES TO NOTE

Homes submitted must have been created between January 2023 and December 2023.

Award submissions are free of charge and will be completed here online through the MHABC website.

All items submitted will become the sole property of the Manufactured Housing Association of British Columbia (MHABC). The MHABC reserves the right to utilize content and photos submitted in future promotion and marketing of the Innovation Awards.

Submissions for the 2024 MHABC Innovation Awards will open on Monday February 5, 2024 through the MHABC website.

Submission posting will close at midnight on Friday March 29, 2024. All entries must be completed by this time – extensions will not be granted. Avoid the stress of preparing your submission last minute. Review the official category requirement details below and begin pre-preparing your submission items today.

IMAGE/SITE PLAN/FLOOR PLAN REQUIREMENTS

All must be digitally uploaded within the online entry platform portal. In order to ensure objectivity in judging submissions, please adhere to the following:

  • submit all images in jpeg format
  • submit site plan and floor plans in pdf format
  • images/pdfs can be a maximum of 25 MB in size
  • please remove (or have covered) manufacturer/dealer/business/homeowner names from dwelling and photo descriptions
  • submit photos/site plan/floor plans labelled with your project name, category and then item name (ie: HilltopHideaway_ModularA277_Kitchen(2)

Horizontal or vertically oriented photos will both be accepted.

Selection Process

Entries will be reviewed by a panel, selected for their expertise and industry knowledge. All panel members will be from outside of British Columbia. Panels’ decisions will be final and binding.

Entries will be reviewed strictly based on the entry requirements. Points will be awarded out of a score of 10 on each listed criteria required to be submitted under each award category. Not site visits will be made.

Only those on the judging panel will be granted access to view submitted entries. Results of the judging process are entirely confidential.

The Manufactured Housing Association of British Columbia reserves the right to:

  • Disqualify entries – based on incompleteness in required submitted criteria or disregard for following criteria requirements (example: leaving company logo on photos or floor plan submissions)
  • Not award a particular category if submitted entries do not meet the criteria required to warrant a recognition of innovative or sustainable excellence

2023 Awards

The 2023 awards were presented on May 9, 2023 during the BC Modular Housing Summit & MHABC AGM that took place at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort. Entries received were reviewed by a panel (located outside of British Columbia) who were selected for their expertise and industry knowledge. Entries were reviewed strictly based on the entry requirements and points were awarded out of a score of 10 on each listed criteria required.
